A kite safari is a liveaboard trip where a small group sails between kite spots, spending each day kiting in locations accessible only by boat. It combines the best wind windows, remote beaches, and serious progression into one intensive week.

Skill Requirements
The minimum skill level for a kite safari is IKO Level 3 — basic independent riding, upwind body drag, self-rescue knowledge. You do not need to ride upwind or perform transitions, but you must be able to manage your kite and return to the safety boat after falls.
Most safari groups include a mix of skill levels from intermediate to advanced. Guides match group sessions to the weakest rider — no one gets left behind, but strong riders get plenty of time to push their skills in more challenging conditions.
If you are at the lower edge of the skill requirement, do the Refresh Lesson at Kite Club Koh Phangan before the safari. Two hours of coaching refreshes water start, upwind drag, and self-rescue so you arrive at the safari confident rather than anxious.
