Feel the wind for the first time
Rigging and beach setup
- Sail anatomy: mast, boom, clew, foot and battens explained on the beach
- Mast base, uphaul and boom attachment: rigged correctly before entering the water
- Wind awareness: standing in the correct angle relative to the wind on the board
On the water
- Uphaul technique: pulling the sail out of the water with correct body mechanics
- Balance and stance: feet shoulder-width, knees soft, back hand controls power
- Basic tack: turning through the wind and continuing in a new direction
- Steering with body lean and sail angle — going exactly where you intend to go
