Why Store Equipment at the School
- Save on airline fees — A kite bag (kite + bar + board bag) weighs 15–25 kg and costs 100–300 EUR in airline excess baggage each way. Annual storage at Koh Phangan typically costs less than two round-trip baggage fees.
- Avoid damage in transit — Airline baggage handling damages kite equipment regularly — boards crack, leading edge bladders puncture. Equipment stored at the school is handled by people who know what it is.
- Arrive ready to ride — Your gear is pumped, rigged, and waiting. You land at Ko Samui, take the ferry, arrive at Thong Sala, and are on the water within two hours of landing in Thailand.
- Insurance during storage — Equipment stored at Kite Club is covered under our facility insurance against theft and flood. Flying your gear as baggage is not covered by airline liability beyond basic baggage claim limits.
What Can Be Stored
Kite Club stores: kites and bars, twin-tip and directional boards, kite foil setups, wing foil wings and boards, windsurf rigs and boards, wetsuits and harnesses, and personal accessories. All equipment is stored in a dry, shaded storage area within the school facility.
There is no volume limit per customer — some riders store a complete two-kite quiver with multiple boards. Equipment is inventoried and tagged on arrival, and you receive a storage receipt.
Accessing Your Equipment
Your equipment is available to you whenever the school is open (typically 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily). You can access it for day sessions, pick it up for travel to another island, or leave it for the season. We ask for 24 hours notice if you want to derig and pack your gear for travel.
Before leaving your equipment for long-term storage (more than 2 months), deflate kites to about 50% pressure, rinse and dry all gear, and leave kites loosely furled — not tightly rolled. This extends bladder life significantly in the tropical heat and humidity.

Many regular Koh Phangan riders have their kite at the school year-round. They fly to Koh Samui with just a backpack and are kiting the same afternoon. Once you experience this, you will never travel with kite equipment on flights again.

Equipment in our facility is covered by our insurance against theft and storm/flood damage. This is stated in the storage agreement. Please bring your own insurance for any equipment damage that occurs while you are riding it.
We hold equipment as agreed. If you need to extend storage, contact us before the end of the storage period. We can usually accommodate extension with 2 weeks notice.
